While the (2) San Jose Sabercats steamrolled the (5) Colorado Crush 64 to 51, the (1) Philadelphia Soul needed a last-second miracle to knock off the (6) New York Dragons and claim a spot in the National Conference Championship Game.
With just seven seconds left in the game, the Dragons were leading the Soul 48 to 43, and Matt D'Orazio was behind the Soul's center on the last play of the game. After the snap, D'Orazio threw the ball to Larry Brackins who barely scored the winning touchdown, although his knee appeared to have touched the ground before the ball broke the plane. The play was reviewed by Arena Football League officials, and the touchdown counted, giving the Soul a ticket into the Conference Finals with a 49-48 victory over the Dragons. The Soul will host the winner of the Force/Gladiators game, which will be played on Monday at 8 PM EST.
Dragons QB Aaron Garcia completed 34 of 45 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns while Matt D'Orazio went 2o-for-32 for 258 yards and six touchdowns.
