Alex Rodriguez will not participate in the 2008 Home Run Derby this year. He says it is because the Home Run Derby can have a bad affect on your batting mechanics. After winning the Home Run Derby when he was with the Phillies, teammate Bobby Abreu slumped through the second half of that season, and understands A-Rod's decision. “I know it’s a show, but we want him for the rest of the season to be good and not to struggle to find his swing,” said Abreu. This year's Home Run Derby now will be missing two great sluggers, David Ortiz and A-Rod.
