MLS Recap July 3rd-5th

On Thursday July 3rd there was a 0-0 tie between the Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Like. There were 6 yellow cards given out that game plus a red card to Real Salt Lake's Chris Wingert for his involvement in a scrum between the two teams. The tie between the teams gave them each their 20th points of the season good for a tie for 3rd in the Western Conference.

Friday July 4th brought 3 games with 1-1 tie between the Kansas City Wizards and FC Dallas. Scott Sealy (2) opened it up for the Wizards in the 39th minute. The Wizards were poised to win this game but a late goal by Abe Thompson (2) in the 91st minute made the outcome of the game a tie. Kansas City is last in the Eastern Conference with 17 points while FC Dallas is 2nd last in the Western Conference with 18 points.

July 4th also saw a blowout as the Colorado Rapids rammed over the New York Red Bulls 4-0. Colorado goals were scored by Tom Mcmanus (4), Mehdi Ballouchy (1), Colin Clark (3) and Omar Cummings (4). The win puts Colorado 5th place in the Western Conference with 19 points, while New York is in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points.

The final game of the day saw the New England Revolution squeak past the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1. Adam Cristman (5) would open the scoring for the Revolution in the 33rd but the Revolution would strike again at the 37th minute with Adam Cristman (6) scoring his 2nd goal of the game. David Beckham (5) would add 1 for the Galaxy in the 66th minute but the Galaxy could not find the game-tying goal. New England is 1st place in the Eastern Conference with 33 points while Los Angeles is Tied for 1st in the Western Conference with 21 points.

Saturday July 5th held two games first being a 2-2 tie between the Chicago Fire and the Columbus Crew. Chicago would set the pace of the game early as Chris Rolfe (3) scored in the 8th minute. Chicago would strike again in the 25th minute as Calen Carr (2) put Chicago up 2-0. Columbus would get on back late in the half as Emmanuel Ekpo (2) scored in the 36th minute to make the score at half 2-1. Searching for the game-tying goal, Columbus would get late heorics from Steven Lenhart (2) in the 87th minute to make it 2-2 and that would be how the game would end. Chicago is tied for 4th in the Eastern conference with the Toronto FC which did not play this weekend and both have 21 points. Columbus is 2nd in the Eastern Conference with 27 points.

The final game of this weekend was a 1-0 victory for Chivas USA over the San Jose Earthquakes. This game was scoreless until the 88th minute with a goal by Ante Razov (3). Chivas USA is tied for 1st in the Western Conference with the LA Galaxy with 21 points while San Jose sits at the bottom of the Wester Conference with 12 points.
