Conklin AND Hossa from Eastern Champs to Stanley Cup Champs

BIG NEWS in the world of hockey today as Pittsburgh Penguins RW Marian Hossa has just signed a one-year $7.4 million contract with the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings; this $7.4 million is the most money that Detroit would pay anyone, even an unrestricted free agent. Hossa, as well as Pascal Dupuis, was traded to the Penguins from the Thrashers earlier this year in exchange for Colby Armstrong, Angelo Esposito, and Erik Christensen.

The 29-year old from Stara Lubovna, Slovakia scored 29 goals and 37 assists with the Thrashers and Penguins in 72 regular season games as well as 12 goals and 14 assists in the playoffs.

Hossa will be joining his Penguins teammate Ty Conklin (Conklin was a backup goalie to Marc-Andre Fleury) in Detroit next season. Conklin signed a 1-year $750,000 contract with Detroit.
