Dodgers Win Without a Hit

Jered Weaver pitched a gem last night, allowing no hits against the Dodgers in 6 innings before being removed for a pinch hitter. After he was removed, Jose Arredondo came in to pitch 2 hitless innings in the seventh and the eighth. The Angels did not pitch in the ninth inning because the Dodgers were winning going into the bottom of the ninth, WITHOUT A HIT.

Jered Weaver's only real blemish was an unearned run in the fifth inning. The Angels did not score any runs last night, allowing them to lose 1-0 in a game in which the opposition did not get a hit. It is not considered a no hitter, because the game only lasted 8 innings. Could something like this happen in any sport besides baseball?

Hang on a second how can a game last only eight innings if the road team (Angels) batted nine times?

Also, how did the Dodgers score their only run?

And well I do remember the Minnesota Vikings in a game against the New York Giants won a game 24-21 despite not scoring an offensive touchdown the whole game. They led 7-6 after the first half with only six offensive yards (their only TD was scored by Darren Sharper off an INT) and they used their special teams to score two more. Crazy huh?

boygenius: The game lasted 8 1/2 innings... it went through 8, the Angels batted the top of the ninth, and since the Dodgers already had their run by the bottom of the ninth, there was no bottom of the ninth. It is not an official no-hitter if the team that was no-hit bats only 8 innings. And the Dodgers scored their run when Matt Kemp hit a weak grounder to Weaver. He bobbled it, E1 on Weaver. Kemp then stole second. Then E2 on Catcher Jeff Mathis. Then a sacrifice fly.
