Detroit Red Wings Win the Stanley Cup

The Detroit Red Wings have just defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling last minute affair to win the Stanley Cup. Final score was 3-2, and the Red Wings won the series 4-2. The Red Wings lead 3-1 going into the final 1:30 sec, but the Penguins added a late goal with about a minute left to make it tight. With a 6-5 attack, the Penguins came inches away from adding a late goal as time expired, and the Detroit Red Wings danced off with their 11th Stanley Cup. Henrik Zetterberg won the Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the MVP of the series.
Although I personally was not a fan of either teams, I personally feel that this Stanley Cup put the NHL back on the map in America. A thrilling 3OT game forced a Game 6 in the first place. I give my congrats to the league, for a fantastic Stanley Cup Playoffs and an absolutely thrilling season.
